The Arcus is for the person who thinks with their back against something. The synchro tilt moves the seat and the back together as you lean, so the chair follows you instead of tipping you out of your reading position, and it locks where you stop. People who spend their day between a screen and a conversation tend to pick this one out of a showroom without being told what it costs.

The back is a sculpted mesh panel held in a matt black powder coated oval tube steel frame, which is what gives it the profile: thinner in silhouette than a moulded nylon shell and noticeably more solid to push against. The seat is plywood with automotive grade high density foam, on a black powder coated cantilever sleigh frame in 25 mm cold rolled steel with a 2.5 mm wall.

It is made as a highback and a midback, and nothing below that, which suits where it usually goes: a managers office, a meeting end of an open plan floor, a room where two or three chairs are seen together rather than thirty. Armrests, base and castors are chosen here. Any fabric in the library covers the seat. Made to order in South Africa, two to three weeks, delivered and installed in Cape Town with a five year guarantee.
